Communication Theories and Gender Studies. A necessary symbiosis.: 8th National Congress of the section ‘Theories and Research Methods in Communication’ 2nd National Congress of the section 'Gender and Communication'

This volume brings together the contributions presented at the national conference held under the auspices of the Spanish Association for Communication Research (AE-IC). The event seeks to promote research on new communicative processes, to rethink theories and methods through a critical observation of the transformations affecting the media and communication system, the slow academia movement, the study of gender in media content production and consumption, and to foster communication research committed to gender equality.

The academic event is a joint initiative of two thematic sections of the Spanish Association for Communication Research (AE-IC, https://ae-ic.org/): the 8th National Congress of the “Theories and Methods of Communication Research” section and the 2nd National Congress of the “Gender and Communication” section. Organized around the theme “Communication Theories and Gender Studies: A Necessary Symbiosis”, this meeting aims to create synergies between related research areas that can collaborate in rethinking reality from a gender perspective and promoting a type of research essential for the development of a communicative inquiry that responds to the key knowledge demands needed to explain and interpret our contemporary society.
