Synopsis

The use of information and communication technologies (ICT) has become a central element in the lives of adolescents, with significant implications for their psychological well-being and socio-emotional development. This report presents updated data on the use of the Internet, mobile phones, and social networks, as well as on the development of emotional intelligence and various indicators of psychological adjustment among adolescents in the province of Málaga (Spain).

This document constitutes a valuable resource for public institutions, education and psychology professionals, and society at large. Its aim is to offer a gender-sensitive, comprehensive, and up-to-date perspective that enables a better understanding of technology use among this population and how problematic use, emotional intelligence, and different indicators of mental health are related. It also seeks to promote reflection, research, and the design of educational and psychosocial interventions tailored to the needs of this group.
