PEDIATRICS IN REAL SCENARIOS... evidence and experience is a collective project born from clinical practice, with the aim of being an educational resource that enriches training in Pediatrics in all its scenarios, through the analysis of real cases, complex and with high educational value. Its content arises from the experience accumulated in daily assistance, in clinical sessions, in the doubts shared among colleagues, in difficult decisions... in short, in the real scenarios where Pediatrics is practiced.
The cases collected here have been selected for their diagnostic, therapeutic or educational interest, and are the reflection of the joint work of professionals with different profiles. They have been peer-reviewed and have been prepared with the contribution of pediatric specialists, many of whom are leaders in their fields; resident interns with a current and reflective vision; university professors with a teaching vocation; and medical students who have experienced these cases as part of their clinical rotations. This diversity of viewpoints enriches the result and makes it an integrating work.
Each of the 38 chapters presented presents a real clinical case, accompanied by a reasoned discussion and supported by updated bibliography. The book is designed to serve as a support tool in formal teaching, and will be incorporated as a resource in the teaching guides of the teaching courses.
But this book is not only an academic instrument. It is, above all, a recognition of the daily clinical work, often silent, that forms part of the healthcare and teaching network of our hospitals. Its publication makes visible the educational contribution of so many professionals of the public health system who, with rigor, generosity and commitment, train new generations of pediatricians.
Thanks to all of you who have made this work possible. It is yours.
