Synopsis

This book has been prepared as an introductory educational resource to biomechanics, mainly aimed at students of Health Engineering and Biomedical Engineering.
Firstly, it establishes the basis for the understanding and comprehension of mechanical concepts applied to the human body, as well as the types of tests existing in biomechanics and the structures present in the musculoskeletal system, such as bone, muscles, tendons and ligaments, and joints, and how to model them mechanically.
Subsequently, the second chapter presents the different magnitudes of interest in biomechanics, and the main sensors that can be used to measure them through the tests explained in the first chapter.
